O.N.E. Drinks

Time for my very first BEVERAGE review! Woop! I was lucky enough to receive a few samples from O.N.E. which stands for One Natural Experience. O.N.E. has a variety of drinks that are all natural and bursting with health benefits. They all come in cute little boxes, and mine has little straws attached to them as well. I love it when companies do that-too cute, and conveinent!! I got to try the Coconut water with a splash of pineapple, Coffee Fruit Drink with strawberry, and the Water of Life varieties.
Let’s begin and start sipping away!
Coconut Water with Splash of Pineapple- first of all Coconut water is EXCELLENT for your body. According to the O.N.E. website, coconut water  is “excellent for replacing lost electrolytes from exercise or illness, is an all-natural sports/energy drink, may help promote smoother, more hydrated skin, is rich in potassium” and much more. So i was super excited to try this. And boy, was it REFRESHING. It has just the slightest hint of pineapple to jazz up the coconut water. It sort of had a thicker consistency than regular water, but didn’t really taste like coconut. Normally the coconut you would expect is like from coconut scented sprays or coconut cookies, but it was a much more mellow flavor with the pineapple to jazz it up. Refreshing!

Coffee Berry Fruit Drink with Strawberry-Coffee fruit eh? You thought there was only a bean, didn’t you? This drink has even more antioxidants than coffee alone, because  a lot of the nutrition is lost when the bean is processed. It’s also rich in phenolic acids, which may help fight the buildup of radicals and protect against “oxidative stress”. And… OMG THIS IS SO GOOD! I loved it! It was sweet, but not too sweet, and super yummy. The strawberry flavor really shone through. I think it would be really good with some ice, like a slushy! 🙂

Water a Gift of Life- this water is from a specific Natural Spring, and is totally purified and clean. To be honest, it tasted like bottle water to me. That’s a good thing though, very fresh, clean and crisp.

I reccommend these waters maybe after a workout or a little too much partying Saturday night (you know who you are 😉  ) for some rejuvenation and some kickin health benefits! 4 stars!

Coconut Water with Pineapple- 1 carton is 79 calories, 0 grams of fat, 19 carbohydrates,  .3 grams of fiber and .8 grams of protein.

Acerola Puree, Red Grape Juice, Whole Coffee Fruit, Natural Flavors, Water Citric Acid, Pitanga Puree, Bean Puree

Cedarlane Eggplant Parmesan

My mom RAVES about Eggplant Parmesan. Everytime we go out for Italian, she gets EGGPLANT Parmesan. When eggplants on sale at the store, she frys em up and makes Eggplant Parmesan. I’m not too fond of chicken parm (sorry!) only because i HATE chicken cutlets, and i really don’t like fried food. But, Cedarlane’s Eggplant Parm is slices of baked eggplant, with cheese, lightly roasted vegetables and a sundried tomato sauce. Would this Eggplant Parm live up to the dish my mom RAVES about? Let’s see!

Well, after heating it up in the microwave, the picture on the box certainly does not depict what i had. They show 2 long slices of eggplant with cheese and veggies. What i got (i didn’t have my camera so i couldn’t take a picture of it! Grr!! 😦 ) was about 5 or 6 circular pieces of eggplant all mooshed together with some cheese and scrambled veggies. But I’m not one to judge on looks, so I dug in.
The eggplant was very soft, and “buttery”tasting. There is also a LOT of eggplant, and I didn’t see any breadcrumbs like the ingredients say there are, but perhaps it was just mixed up with all the cheese and veggies. I really liked the “seeded” part of the eggplant-it has a little bit more of a bite and more flavor to it compared to the rest. There definitely is a strong tomato flavor here, probably from the sundried tomato sauce. There also is pa-lenty of cheese in this dish. It was gooey and stringy and it was how cheese is supposed to be 🙂 . I also liked the parmesan cheese flavor that came through with the veggies.
Overall, this dish wasn’t bad. I think it kind of tasted like Ellio’s pizza, which is a frozen pizza i had a lot growing up. I do, however, almost wish that it had less eggplant and they paired the eggplant parmesan with another side dish. It was also a bit too salty for me, but that’s expected with tomato sauce. It is, however, an excellent way to get some vegetables into your day. I would guess at least 3 servings in this meal alone! 🙂 This meal is getting a 3 1/2 star for me, 4 star if you like eggplant parm! I like there other meals i reviewed better. Check them out!

The box has 2 servings, but honestly, who can eat half? 🙂 So here’s the stats for the whole thing.
1 box is 320 calories, 16 grams of fat, 32 carbohydrates, 6 grams of fiber and 14 grams of protein. You also get 30% calcium needs.

Chobani Greek Flavored Yogurt

We all know my love for yogurt. Now it’s time to explore on the GREEK side of yogurt!
What exactly is greek yogurt? Well, after the milk is heated and cultured to make yogurt, it is then allowed to sit and strain, so the “whey” is removed. What’s left is a creamier and thicker version of yogurt.
I got the pleasure of trying Chobani’s Greek Non Fat Flavored Yogurts in Blueberry, Peach and Strawberry varieties. But how did these play out for my normal love of yogurt?
Quite excellently. Each yogurt has the desired fruit on the bottom, so you can eat it swirled together , seperately, or do what I did, and eat half the yogurt and half the fruit topping on the spoon at once. The yogurt is extremely thick and creamy, it’s hard to believe there’s no fat in these! The peach flavor was my favorite, surprisingly. Normally I’m a blueberry girl, but the peach flavor was GREAT! The peaches tasted fresh, and they had just the right amount of sweetness for the greek yogurt. The blueberry flavor and strawberry flavor were also yummy. There were real bitty blueberries and chunks of strawberries that pack a tough antioxidant punch in each cup.
These yogurts were much more substantial than regular yogurt as well. I noticed i was significantly fuller (due to the higher protein content versus regular yogurt) when I paired the Chobani yogurt with some whole grain cereal for some extra crunch. These were great-4 Stars- you should definitely try them. I can’t wait to go out and buy the pomegranate and pineapple flavors!

Each yogurt is 140 calories, 0 grams of fat, 20 carbohydrates, >1 gram of fiber, and 14 grams of protein. You also get 15% of daily calcium and probiotics!
Peach-Cultured Pasteurized Nonfat Milk,  Evaporated Cane Juice, Peaches, Natural Flavor, Locust Bean Gum, Pectin.

Amy’s Tamale Cheese Verde

So today was a crappy day. Just overall, i was NOT having a good day. And then i had this meal, and honestly, my day took a 180 degree spin in the other direction. I was not expecting this meal to be so GOOD! But let’s give some background information first. Amy’s tamale verde with cheese is new, is made with organic corn masa, tomatillos and rice. It’s gluten free (yay!) too. Amy’s says “The organic masa (ground and cooked corn) is poured onto individual parchments, filled with a mixture of Monterey Jack Cheese, chiles and jalapenos, and then folded and steamed. The tamales are then unwrapped by hand, topped withour delicious verde sauce and served with a side of Spanish rice made from organic brown rice and organic black beans”. Let’s Dig In !!!!

The Tamale- Summed up in a word, AMAZING. The corn masa=love. It’s soft, flavorful, buttery tasting and so satisfying. You know how you get a frozen meal with “cheese” and most of it magically vanishes in the microwave? Not here! They definietly don’t scrimp on the cheese in the tamale. It’s gooey and rich, and has chiles and jalapenos  embedded in the cheese. But they aren’t too spicy, and are perfect with the stringy and gooey goodness of the cheese. I don’t even like cheese that much ( i pull it off my pizza…!) but this was just so good. It’s even topped with the verde salsa- which had a sweet taste of lime.

The rice and beans are a nice compliment to the tamale. They have a combination flavor between tomatoes and a “taco seasoning” taste. It’s really good-but not too spicy. The baby bell peppers also add a little kick. The rice (brown rice-whole grain yay!) is fluffy, and the beans are soft.  I liked mixing the rice with the leftover verde sauce that oozed on the side of the tamale 🙂

Overall, this meal, ROCKS. DEFinitely buying again, and it’s a 5 star for sure. It’s filling, it hit the spot, and it made my crappy day better 🙂 The only thing keeping me from eating this one EVERY night is the cheese/fat factor. There are 5 grams of saturated and 16 grams of fat per meal-which is a wee bit high, but it’s so good, and definitely healthier than anything you would get at a restaurant!
GET THIS MEAL !!!  🙂 🙂 🙂

1 meal is 360 calories, 16 grams of fat, 45 carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber, and 10 grams of protein. There’s also 25% of your needs for calcium.

My favorite was the panda! So cute! How could you eat these guys ?

White Chocolate- Very delicious. Tastes like a mini oreo-but not as fake tasting or overly sweet. The cream is soft and sweet, with a light vanilla flavor. The chocolate cookie is crisp, and easy to swirl off of the cream.

Milk Chocolate– Also deeeeeelicious. Think keebler cookies, but better! The chocolate cream on the inside tastes like a soft, creamy milk chocolate, accompanied by a rich vanilla cookie on the outside.

Overall, these sandwich cookies ROCK. 4 stars for sure. These are great by themselves or with a glass of milk. I spread some natural peanut butter on the white chocolate flavor-HEAVEN!! I would love to try more Late July products. They seem AWESOME!!

Sonoma Crisps

sonomaI can’t even tell you how much i enjoyed these. Before i get into my new obsession, let’s review the company. Sonoma makes their products without added oil or sugar, and they have some secret process that bakes the fruit slowly, allowing them to be super crispy without additives or frying. The only things they add are fructose and calcium ascorbate to the products, which are all natural. They come in 5 different flavors, Apple Sticks Original, Gala Apple with Strawberry Blend, Apple Sticks Cinnamon, Golden Delicious, and Raisin Crunch. Sonoma sent me the Gala Apple with Strawberry Blend, Raisin Crunch, and Apple Sticks Cinnamon variety to try. Let me say, I AM IN LOVE.

Before you go, ew, freeze dried apple, take that thought out of your mind. I was in a snacking mood and i was originally thinking, okay those apple sticks are so not going to satisfy my snacking craving. I was SO wrong!

Each of the apple sticks look like tiny french fries, the shoe string kind, but they are crispy and crunchy. The Apple Stick Cinnamon flavor tasted like the Gala Apple variety, but had an extra hint of cinnamon flavor. Each of the apple varieties were sweet and just perfect. They aren’t flimsy like some freeze dried fruit can be, and they aren’t soft or like traditional dried fruit is. They are apple “cheese doodles”, if you will. 🙂 The Gala Apple was a special strawberry blend, so it also included freeze-dried crunchy strawberries. I liked them, which i wasn’t expecting. normally i don’t like freeze dried strawberries because they are too tart, but these weren’t, and were actually sweet.
The Raisin Crunch was a bit different. They were plump raisins that had a hollow center and a nice crunch. They definietly had a nice “raisin-y” flavor, and i think they would be good in a trail mix or cereal rather than by themself.

So I’m happy and sad for these products. Happy because i’m officially obsessed and these are now my new go-to for dried/crunchy fruit. Sad because they are only available in California locations (aka THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY FOR ME), and amazon 😦 . And on amazon you can only buy bulk of one flavor, so i just ordered myself 20$ worth of Apple Sticks Cinnamon. Im going to be broke soon… 🙂
Sonoma Crisps= 5 Star

I hope they come out with new flavors. I think PEAR, PINEAPPLE, or PEACH would be AWESOME!

Apple Sticks Cinnamon- 1 serving (60 pieces) is 70 calories, 0 grams of fat, 18 carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, and 0 grams of protein.

Gala Apple with Strawberry Blend- 1 serving (60 pieces) is 80 calories, 0 grams of fat, 20 carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, and 1 gram of protein.

Raisin Crunch- 1 serving (38 pieces) is 60 calories,  0 grams of fat, 13 carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of fiber, and 1 gram of protein.
