Brown Cow Greek Yogurt

Time for another yogurt review!
Brown Cow is a branch of Stonyfield Farm ( a FAVORITE company of mine!) that manufactures all natural yogurt and greek yogurt. I got to try the Greek Yogurt, in  Strawberry, Blueberry and Vanilla flavor, but it also comes in plain for those of you who like to “do it up” yourself. According to the website, “Our authentic straining process removes the liquid (whey) from the yogurt to create a stick-to-your-spoon thick and rich Greek treat with about twice the protein of other yogurts and less lactose.”  Of course, there are no artificial ingredients, preservatives, sugar alcohols or hormone treated milk in these yogurts. Sounds like a winner to me!

Each of the yogurts are very creamy and thick. When you take the lid off, there is a slight layer of liquid, whey I believe, on top, but it’s easily stirred in. I sometimes just drink the liquid so my yogurt will be extra thick and rich 🙂 .
Vanilla- This one has a mild vanilla flavor, and is great to pair with a crunchy cereal or a muffin like i did. It wasn’t overpoweringly sweet, but rather just the right amount of vanilla and cane juice.
Strawberry- My favorite of the 3. The strawberry on the bottom really did it for me. The fruit was sweet and plump, and had nice chunks of strawberries in it. It tasted like real strawberries, not like mushy strawberries that you defrosted and lost all their flavor. This one was GOOD.
Blueberry- also yummy, but I like the strawberry better. The blueberries were a tad bitter, but they were still good. It resembled sort of a blueberry jelly on the bottom.
It’s surprising that the blueberry wasn’t my favorite, because  Brown Cow is a branch off the Stonyfield Farm company, and their blueberry yogurt  is one of my favorites. I’m going to guess the slight change in flavor is due to the fact that Stonyfield uses naturally milled refined sugar and Brown Cow uses evaporated cane juice? Just a guess. But worth pondering about.

Anywhoo- overall, these are really good.4 stars! I also like that they are sweetened with a less refined form of sugar, evaporated cane juice. They were substantial and when paired with some fruit or whole grain cereal, good enough to keep me satisfied all  morning. Don’t forget the probiotics it has to offer! 😉

the 5.3 oz cups of greek yogurt range from 80-130 calories, 0 grams of fat, 6-18 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, and 13-15 grams of protein.

The ingredients are simple as well, using only nonfat milk, evaporated cane juice, and real fruit.
I want to try the regular version of Brown Cow yogurts as well. The Maple Flavor looks yummy!
