Chobani Greek Flavored Yogurt

CHO

We all know my love for yogurt. Now it’s time to explore on the GREEK side of yogurt!
What exactly is greek yogurt? Well, after the milk is heated and cultured to make yogurt, it is then allowed to sit and strain, so the “whey” is removed. What’s left is a creamier and thicker version of yogurt.
I got the pleasure of trying Chobani’s Greek Non Fat Flavored Yogurts in Blueberry, Peach and Strawberry varieties. But how did these play out for my normal love of yogurt?
Quite excellently. Each yogurt has the desired fruit on the bottom, so you can eat it swirled together , seperately, or do what I did, and eat half the yogurt and half the fruit topping on the spoon at once. The yogurt is extremely thick and creamy, it’s hard to believe there’s no fat in these! The peach flavor was my favorite, surprisingly. Normally I’m a blueberry girl, but the peach flavor was GREAT! The peaches tasted fresh, and they had just the right amount of sweetness for the greek yogurt. The blueberry flavor and strawberry flavor were also yummy. There were real bitty blueberries and chunks of strawberries that pack a tough antioxidant punch in each cup.
These yogurts were much more substantial than regular yogurt as well. I noticed i was significantly fuller (due to the higher protein content versus regular yogurt) when I paired the Chobani yogurt with some whole grain cereal for some extra crunch. These were great-4 Stars- you should definitely try them. I can’t wait to go out and buy the pomegranate and pineapple flavors!

Each yogurt is 140 calories, 0 grams of fat, 20 carbohydrates, >1 gram of fiber, and 14 grams of protein. You also get 15% of daily calcium and probiotics!

  2. I’ve been lucky enough to have tried all the flavors Chobani offers. My favorite is the tropical and creamy 2% Pineapple flavor. Mmm…. drooling just thinking about it. I love to mix in some plain Chobani just to make it last longer and dilute down the sweetness. Of course mix ins like frozen banana is a must. To give my breakfast extra staying power, I eat a homemade oat bran muffin with it too.

I love Chobani – it’s the best! I’ve tried the Blueberry, Strawberry and Peach and love them all!

My favorite Chobani “recipe” is using it on top of Kashi waffles instead of syrup – try it, you’ll love it!

  15. Ooh, I’ve seen these so many times at Whole Foods, but I’ve never picked them up. 🙂 I really want to try it!

I have tried the fat-free Peach and Vanilla flavors of Chobani, as well as the low-fat Pineapple flavor. I loved the Peach flavor, and while I usually prefer fat-free yogurt, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the Pineapple flavor.

Still have yet to try the other flavors… but my local specialty food market carries the entire line, so I will definitely be trying them in the near future. I’m especially looking forward to trying the Honey (I *love* honey) and Strawberry flavors…

As for Greek yogurt “recipes,” I don’t really do much with my yogurt other than mix in fruit or top it with honey… although I do love vanilla yogurt with some pumpkin pie mix swirled in… that’s probably my favorite. (Why, oh, WHY does no one make a pumpkin spice flavored yogurt…?)
